A song is brought about by a schism, an abyss, a vacuum, whether created from awe or from angst, that draws the music from an unknown source to flow outward. A song can begin with a great loss. A song can rise like a phoenix from the ashes of devastation. It can be the healing scar of a wound, a bittersweet celebration of ephemeral beauty, or an impossible question which nevertheless longs for an answer. I have long marveled at the history of these creations so close to the human heart that we call songs. To me, a song is the distillation of life into a few poignant lines where melody and word seem inextricably connected. Each song I write is a resolution to a personal labyrinth, a reaction to an unexplainable moment, and the breadcrumbs I leave behind.
I invite you to revisit these labyrinths with me. To find your own meaning in each of them and create a new place of solace that you can return to again and again.
We’d love to hear from you. Sign up to stay informed.
